Let's trick Mr.Thief!

So recently my daughter's stash of story books were replenished and she was thrilled. However some of her books introduced her to the world of tricking others for fun or to hurt. As a responsible parent i did talk to her about how it was not nice to trick anyone as people get hurt sometimes physically or emotionally. she nodded her head in agreement and i thought that was the end of this discussion.

This morning as she was getting ready to go to school and going through the daily routines, A said that she would trick me into thinking that she had finished drinking her water. I made a prompt sad face and said "I don't think its a nice thing to do baby A". So A thought for sometime and then asked me, "OK Amma! I wont trick you, but what if there was thief who kidnaps me? Can I trick him?" I was intrigued and asked her "How would you do that?"

A continued without missing a beat, super confident "I would tell him, Mr.Thief, Mr.Thief, please let me go." I asked her "What if he does not let you go and asks why he should let you go?" A said "I will tell him that I know of a place where there are many children whom he can take. I will also tell him that I can show the place only if he lets me go and the minute he lets me go, I will run away from him and come back home."

Wow! What a plan! was all i could think of as she spoke.

Papa heard this and said "But what if he follows you and tries to catch you again?" A said "Papa! I will run back home and quickly ask the security guard at the gate to close the gate and the thief cannot come in! This is how I will trick the thief! Is that OK Amma?"

"Of course baby, of course! You should trick Mr.Thief and run away" I said.
